His Holiness Sakya Trizin

Lama Lekshey

Our patron is His Holiness Sakya Trizin, who in ranking serves next in line to His Holiness Dalai Lama. The TCT’s founder is the Venerable Lama Jamyang Lekshey, a Tibetan-born Lama who gives lectures on Tibetan Buddhism and teaches compassion & wisdom, travelling all over the world and meeting with people from different cultures.

Lama La’s vision

Everyday, Lama La is in first-hand contact with many people and their children living in remote and inaccessible areas of India, Nepal, Bhutan & Mongolia. Often, there is no fresh water causing suffering and disease. As in so many countries, these people urgently need help. Water reservoirs, food & medical supplies, schools and education materials are needed urgently. Funds raised by the Trust will provide vital clean water, health care, food & education for thousands of people in these and other countries.

Stop and think for a moment

Have you been food shopping this week? Isn’t it easy for us to get into our cars and drive to a choice of supermarkets to get what we need – we even have the luxury of deciding which bottled water to choose, which diet sheet to follow or even whether to eat meat or not. What would we do in remote areas? No wells, no water, with no vegetation in sight and only a few yaks to keep us company? Many of us seek this kind of solitude but would we be willing to survive on dry biscuits and thin soups, forever? Not trying to make you feel guilty! Just..stop..and..think…this is reality for most of the people we work so hard for. Realising that they don’t have a choice – they don’t even know what choice is. You have so much to give…a few pounds each month really do make a difference.

Be informed

How can we make sure that the money really gets to those in need? Months on after the Tsunami in 2003, for example, some major charities came and went and research showed that despite their efforts, whole communities were left without food and water for months. Closer to home, many commercial schemes exist in the name of charity where as little as 10p of your donation spent, will actually end up donated to a charitable cause. The rest covers wages & general overheads.

Small is better

Because we are a small charity with a highly spiritually motivated core workforce, our projects are impeccably researched and we can make sure that all our present and future projects are benefiting exclusively from your donation. All our volunteers work for us because they feel motivated to do so, so that we can extend your own generosity and make the most of your donation.
